Description:
8<---
OCCAID network engineering and infrastructure partner TowardEX Technologies
will be making change to OCCAID's new england backbone network (NE-BOS) to
provide upgraded capacity.
Following activities will be conducted during this maintenance:
1. OCCAID Boston router's internet connection will be cut over to twdx.net's
new network, transitioning from Qwest ip connection. During this process,
Occaid router's tunneling internet connection, currently rate limited at
622Mbps, will be upgraded to fully burstable 1Gbps.
2. Northeast layer-2 MetroGrid connections are being re-connected to a new
dedicated Catalyst 3550 switch. This affects all layer2 connectivity to every
on-net facilities which OCCAID maintains presence throughout MA state and New
England region.
3. All occaid vlan's on twdx metrogrid circuits will be renumbered due to
implementation of Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol (RSTP) for layer-2 redundancy.
This activity may cause intermittent network outages and transport path changes
throughout new england area.
This maintenance is deemed service impacting.
ADDENDUM NOTICE:
Because our primary USA--Europe connection, terminating between Ashburn
and London is down due to Ashburn POP outage, a GRE tunnel between
Sweden and Boston POPs is activated as backup route. During this planned
maintenance, if Ashburn POP is still not restored by then, there may be a
moment of "Split-AS" condition on our backbone, which may temporarily
affect connectivity to Europe for several customers. We are working on
finding available options to fix Ashburn as soon as possible in the mean time.
